On 25 November, chief researcher of the RAS Institute for Nuclear Research (INR RAS), Member of the JINR Scientific Council Valery Anatolievich Rubakov delivered a lecture “Hard job of starting the Universe” in the frames of the virtual Theoretical Physics Symposium 2020.

The event was organized to celebrate the award of the Hamburg Prize for Theoretical Physics 2020, the most prestigious award in the fields of theoretical physics, to Valery Rubakov. The highest award was presented to Valery Rubakov in July 2020 and an in-person awarding ceremony was supposed to take place in November in Hamburg. However, organizers had to postpone it for the next year because of the unfavourable epidemiological situation. Nevertheless, organizers decided to hold the Theoretical Physics Symposium 2020 to congratulate Valery Rubakov and highlight his achievements.

The Hamburg Prize is considered as one of the most significant physics awards. The preamble to the award notes that the most important advances in solving the mystery of the origin of the Universe made by research collaborations all around the world over the past few years were often based on scientific papers by Valery Anatolievich.
