On 11 January 2018, the 110th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry I. Blokhintsev is celebrated.

The name of this outstanding scientist of the 20th century is directly connected with development of numerous fields of modern physics, construction of the first in the world nuclear power plant, establishment of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia that greatly contributed to development of fundamental research and training of scientific staff in Russia and other JINR Member States.

The name of Dmitry I. Blokhintsev ranks among such scientists as Sechenov, Timiryazev, Umov, Lebedev, Vernadsky, Vavilov, Khokhlov and many others our people are proud of“Pravda” of 23 January 1980.

In the frames of celebration of the 110th anniversary of Dmitry I. Blokhintsev birth, the following events will be held in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research:

• Seminar in memory of D.I.Blokhintsev
• Exhibition dedicated to D.I.Blokhintsev birth anniversary in the Universal Public Library of JINR
• Exhibition of art works by D.I.Blokhintsev in the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, 2nd floor near the Conference hall
• D.I.Blokhintsev commemoration meeting, 18 January at 6:00 PM in the Universal Public Library of JINR
