Registration for 2nd International African Symposium on Exotic Nuclei opens
News, 24 September 2024
From 9 to 13 December 2024, iThemba LABS (Republic of South Africa) and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research will organize the Second International African Symposium on Exotic Nuclei (IASEN-2024), which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa. The symposium will focus on the study of nuclei in extreme states, particularly the limits of nuclear stability (from very light neutron and proton-rich to superheavy nuclei).
The topics to be discussed are production of exotic nuclei or rare ion beams, fundamental and applied research with radioactive ion beams (RIBs), nuclear reactions and astrophysics, nuclear structure, and isotopes in nuclear medicine.
The programme involves invited plenary talks and several parallel sessions, including a poster one.
Registration for the event is available via the link until 22 November. Those wishing to deliver reports should submit abstracts for reviewing by 18 October. Scientists from China, India, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, and other countries are expected to take part in the symposium.
The first IASEN Symposium took place in 2013 with JINR participation.
