The JINR Publishing Department has published abstracts of reports presented at the VIII Congress on radiation research, which was held in Moscow from 12 to 15 October 2021.

This collection of scientific papers reflects results of fundamental research in all areas of radiobiology, radioecology, radiation safety, and their practical applications. The abstracts present scientific works in molecular radiobiology and radiation genetics, molecular and cellular mechanisms of radiation action. Mechanisms of origins and forecasts of long-term effects of radiation, most particularly medical and biological consequences, issues of radiation physiology, radiation immunology, and haematology are considered. The proceedings pay attention to such practically important problems as radiobiological foundations of radiation therapy of malignant tumours, search and creation of antiradiation agents. The publication considers results in the fields of heavy ion radiobiology, space radiobiology, and solving problems of space flight safety. The issues of dosimetry and microdosimetry of ionizing radiation are discussed. The proceedings pay attention to training of scientific specialists and organization of radiobiological and radioecological education in Russia.
