At the meeting of the JINR STC

Information on working process on the NICA and DRIBs projects was heard at the regular meeting of the JINR Scientific and Technical Council headed by R.V. Jolos which was held on 3 October 2014. V.D. Kekelidze and S.N. Dmitriev presented their reports. Participants of the meeting showed great interest in these topics and delivered their comments. The JINR STC decided to discuss the progress towards implementation of the JINR mega-projects in spring 2015.
JINR Director V.A. Matveev spoke about the participation of a delegation from JINR in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of CERN and reported that in September, CERN Council unanimously adopted the decision on granting Observer Status for JINR in this European international scientific organization. The symmetric decision about the participation of CERN in JINR as an observer will be considered at the session of the JINR Committee of Plenipotentiaries In November.
The next item on the agenda was related to strengthening and development of relations of JINR with research centers of the JINR Member States. N.A. Russakovich opened this topic when he presented information about the work carried out by the JINR leadership on attracting scientists and engineers from the JINR Member States to preparation and implementation of fundamental research at JINR and made a number of proposals. S.Z. Pakulyak spoke about training of staff for JINR Member States and the versatile work of the JINR UC. Social conditions created in Dubna for employees from the JINR Member States, and relevant pressing problems were the subject of the report of W. Chmielowski. O.A. Koval, G.V. Trubnikov, Yu.K. Potrebenikov, I.A. Savin, V.A. Matveev, D.V. Kamanin, R. Pose, J. Kliman, Yu.Ts. Oganessian, D. Tonev, G. Adam, R. Lednický, O. Kulikov, Yu.A. Panebrattsev, V.N. Shvetsov, D.V. Peshekhonov, V.A. Zagrebaev, M. Finger, V.D. Peshekhonov, R.V. Dzholos and other participants of the meeting delivered questions and comments.
A report of the Director of the Institute of Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences D. Tonev, which reflected both the historical connections of Dubna and research centers of Bulgaria, as well as prospects for the development of scientific partnership at the present stage, became the telling illustration of effective and fruitful collaboration between scientists of JINR and Bulgaria.
The JINR STC unanimously supported nomination of Head of the Chair of the Belarusian State University Vladimir Vasilievich Uglov for title of Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
