Participants of the educational physics forum, which took place this week at MIPT in the frames of the All-Russian Student Olympiad “I am professional”, got acquainted with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research on 22 April 2021 and visited two of its laboratories. 14 participants of the excursion were immersed in the atmosphere of world science.

Director of the JINR University Centre S. Z. Pakuliak introduced students to the Institute, its history, laboratories, fields of activities and prospects, as well as student programmes held by the UC JINR.

Head of the UC Department of development of educational programmes Yu. A. Panebrattsev gave a tour of the interactive exhibition “JINR basic facilities” and demonstrated the operation of major facilities, as well as shared interesting facts from the JINR history. Scientific Secretary of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions A. V. Karpov conducted an excursion around the Laboratory, acquainted guests with research in the fields of nuclear-physical and chemical properties of new superheavy elements, introduced them to the achievements in the fields of the discovery of new chemical properties. In the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, an engineer O. Kazinova conducted a tour of the factory of superconducting magnets and the NICA accelerator complex.
