On the quarantine, a lot of employees of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems continue their work in the duty or shift modes. Among them, there are heads of the laboratory, the group of information network technologies and automation of physical experiment, the electrotechnological department, heat, water and ventilation supply service, the administrative-and-household division, the sector of molecular genetics of a cell, as well as group No.8 of the Scientific and Profit Division “Phasotron Department” responsible for preserving a unique drosophila collection alive.

“In the conditions of self-isolation and suspension of scientific and educational activities, we concentrated on preparing to the summer meeting of the Programme Advisory Committee to make everything possible to apply projects in standard time frames (1,5-2 months before the consideration) assuming that the PAC meeting will traditionally take place in June. For this purpose, seminars providing physical justification of projects and STC meetings are held. Work is quite stressful: on average, there are three seminars a week and one STC meeting twice a week,” DLNP Deputy Director for science Vladimir Victorovich Glagolev noted.

Just as the quarantine was announced at JINR, joint laboratory seminars and STC meetings were immediately transferred to the Zoom platform. That is why seminars have not stopped in the laboratory but on the contrary, their number on the online-platform has increased, and the number of participants is growing every time. Last Wednesday, there were 80 participants, for example. Transfer to the online working regime was smooth and fast, without any losses of earlier planned seminars. The scientific communication group provides great assistance to the laboratory management in organizing seminars, spreading information in social networks, moderating participants, processing materials and videos.

Everyone who can work remotely has shifted to this mode. And they do work actually, take part in seminars, STC meetings, collaboration meetings. All those who could not do it remained at their working places. Both groups, at home or at the site, are equally engaged in the labour process. Moreover, many employees say that they have started to work much more intensively, and the workload and responsibility have increased.
