On 22 December, laureates of the RAS Prize for the best science popularizing projects 2020 were announced.
Staff members of the Joint Institute Dmitry Naumov, Mikhail Zhukov, and Elena Dubovik took the 3rd place in the “Video” nomination for a series of educational videos “Baikal-GVD. Neutrino Hunters” nominated by JINR Director elect RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov.
The series of science popular videos “Baikal-GVD. This series illustrates all the serious and funny, the magnificent and ordinary, the simple and complicated—everything that people face striving to reveal yet another mystery of the Universe.
This vivid series of videos was based on the Baikal journal 2019 by Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Dmitry Naumov, DLNP JINR Deputy Director, a leading researcher in the fields of neutrino physics, Head of the JINR Neutrino Programme. Mikhail Zhukov, a staff member of the DLNP Social Communication Group, filmed and edited all the videos of the series. Candidate of Physics and Mathematics Elena Dubovik, Head of the DLNR JINR Social Communication Group, played a special role in the project: she was the ideological inspirer and coordinated the entire project.
Videos of the series “Neutrino hunters” are available on the DLNP website.
It should be noted that members of the RAS Commission for science popularization supported the idea to award a special diploma for the high quality of popularization of science to Martyn Poliakoff, Brady Haran, and Neil Barnes for the project “Periodic videos” nominated for the RAS competition by FLNR Scientific Leader RAS Academician Yuri Oganessian and Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia.
