The JINR Universal Public Library invites readers to listen to the lecture titled “Evolution in biology and linguistics: similarities and differences” by Svetlana Burlak.
Just like a living organism, the language develops evolutionarily. Languages are inherited and changed over time. There are both similarities and differences between these two evolutions. The speaker will discuss this using specific examples.
Svetlana Burlak is a Doctor of Philology, professor, science communicator, and an author of linguistic problems and textbooks. Her Origin of Language: Facts, Research, Hypotheses book entered the long list of the 2010 Enlightener Prize and was included in the list of the five best books on linguistics and languages compiled by Alexander Pipersky for the Gorky portal in 2019.
