Joint plans for the nearest future

Assembly of the Booster for the Nuclotron has been launched in the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics. After bringing it to operation at the beginning of 2020, the VBLHEP accelerator complex is expected to achieve intense gold nuclei beams. The BM@N facility will be the first to use them.
For conducting experiments on study of gold nuclei collisions, the BM@N facility should be upgraded, two years are devoted to this purpose. Particular plans for such modernization were discussed at the two-day workshop that was held on 5 – 6 July 2018 in VBLHEP with the financial support of the CREMLIN European project by JINR specialists, GSI (Darmstadt), the University of Tübingen, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the Warsaw University of Technology, MSU and SPBU.
Among topics discussed at the workshop, the following were the most significant: the need of substantial improvement in the quality of the beam transport from the accelerator to the target and creation of a vacuum channel in both the target chamber and the wide-aperture hybrid (DSSD-GEM) Tracking System. Ways of deep modernization of electronics for readout were also discussed, that is to be implemented. The first steps in these directions, which would be coordinated by Professor Peter Senger (GSI), were outlined. The final result of this work will be the technical design of the hybrid tracking system that is planned to be finished over a year.
