On Monday, 4 June 2018, the 7th International training programme for decision-makers in science and international scientific cooperation JEMS – «JINR Expertise for Member States and Partner Countries» started. Participants of JEMS-7 are staff members of relevant ministries, research and educational organizations from Vietnam, China, Russia and the Czech Republic.
This time, the start of the training programme coincided with the start of the 1st stage of the International Student Practice. Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V. Kamanin delivered an introductory lecture for both participants of the JEMS training programme and students from RSA. A traditional element of the JEMS programme is a working lunch with members of the JINR Directorate. This time JINR Vice-Director R. Lednický and JINR Chief Scientific Secretary A.S. Sorin took part in the welcome lunch.
It is the first time a delegation from China representing the China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) takes part in the JEMS training programme. That is one of the key practical steps towards implementation of the agreement on cooperation between JINR and CIAE that was signed in March 2018. Working contacts with CIAE were also actively developed at the International Seminar on Interaction of Neutrons with Nuclei ISINN-26 that was held last week.
The participants of the training programme will visit all seven scientific laboratories of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, where they will see the facilities at which main research of JINR is conducted. The programme of the JEMS-7 comprises also meetings with the Directorate and leading scientists, lectures in the JINR Visit Center on the directions of scientific research, principles of JINR activities and educational opportunities. The training programme provides time for workshops and meetings. Guests will also enjoy a sightseeing tour of Dubna and lectures on its history.
