IYPT2019: Russian-Swedish symposium

On 28 February 2019, a Russian-Swedish Symposium was launched in Stockholm dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.
Organizers of the event are the Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Embassy of Russia in Sweden.
The event in Sweden will be held in the Stockholm University and will be dedicated to achievements of D.I. Mendeleev and his role in the development of the world science. Russian and Swedish scientists will pay special attention to urgent problems of ecology and ecological safety of Arctic and northern seas. Moreover, the agenda of discussions includes issues of cooperation between Russia and Sweden in the fields of chemistry.
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is represented at the event by Sergey Dmitriev, Director of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions.
The Russian delegation also includes RAS Academician, Professor of the MSU Chemical Faculty, Professor of the University of Sweden Irina Beletskaya, Director of the Kurakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry RAS Vladimir Ivanov, Professor, Director of the Chemical Institute of the St.-Petersburg State University Irina Balova, and Director of the “Arctic” analytical centre of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University Dmitry Kosyakov.
The delegation is headed by Andrey Shevelkov, Professor, Head of the MSU Department of Inorganic Chemistry.
Furthermore, the programme of the two-day event includes a visit of Russian scientists to the Royal University of Technology as well as the reception in the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sweden devoted to the celebration of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.
