Culture

On 31 October 2022, Dark Matter Day will be celebrated for the sixth time.

Participants of Dark Matter Day will try to understand the mysteries of dark matter and present the research and experiments that may help to solve the puzzle. What is new in the study of dark matter? Has a particle candidate been finally found dark matter may consist of? Does it consist of anything?

Blokhintsev Universal Public Library of JINR will present the programme dedicated to this event in Dubna.

“Why is Einstein still right?”. This is a topic Evgeny Davydov, a Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, BLTP senior researcher, proposes to discuss. Dark Matter is an example of how scientists thought for a long time that Einstein was wrong in his famous theory. However, as a result, the knowledge gained about Dark Matter was just proved it right. The lecture will begin at 6:30 PM.

It is also planned to carry out a traditional scientific quiz “Per aspera ad astra”: level up your scientific avatar from postgraduate to academician” (only by appointment). The quiz will begin at 6:30 PM.
