The Cisco company, the worldwide leader in IT and networking, awarded Professor V.V. Korenkov, Director of the Laboratory of Information Technologies JINR, for the best project of 2018 in the fields of network technologies for development of a backbone network at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The project has been implemented jointly with partners from Cisco.

The project has been developed for more than a year to establish a high-speed local network at JINR with a capacity of 100 Gbit/s, connecting all laboratories and units of JINR, including the network infrastructure of the NICA megaproject. The project has carefully worked out issues of reliability, information security, scalability, monitoring, flexible network services and resources management. In the near future, the supplies of network equipment and software configuring will begin.
