Today, a guest meeting of the Finance Committee of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research started in Hanoi, Vietnam. The meeting was opened by JINR Director Academician V. A. Matveev who made a report on the most significant events of the Institute and introduced to participants the milestones of the 126th session of the JINR Scientific Council (September 2019).

On the first day of the meeting, Deputy Head of the Finance & Economy Office M. P. Vasiliev will present the draft budget of JINR for the year 2020, draft contributions of the Member States for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023. Acting Vice-Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research for the NICA megascience project, VBLHEP Director V. D. Kekelidze and JINR Vice-Director R. Lednický will present in their reports the draft budget for the use of the special-purpose funds of the Russian Federation, provided in accordance with the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and JINR on the construction and exploitation of the NICA complex of superconducting rings for heavy-ion colliding beams, for the year 2020. Participants of the meeting will consider the draft Strategic plan for the long-term development of JINR as well as the results of the meeting of the Working Group (WG) under the CP Chair for JINR Financial Issues held on 17–18 October 2019.

The meeting of the JINR Finance Committee will be concluded on 22 November. The milestones of the meeting will be summed up at the general discussion after which the protocol of the meeting will be signed. The results of the meeting will be presented at the autumn session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States that will take place in Hanoi on 25 – 26 November.
