Subsequent to the Resolution No. 267-РГ of 11 September 2020 of the Governor of the Moscow Region, a list of winners of the prize “In the fields of science and innovations for young scientists and specialists in 2020” was approved. A team of authors from the Sector of Low Temperatures, Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems JINR, represented by a leading engineer Ivan Sergeevich Gorodnov and a junior researcher Anton Sergeevich Dolzhikov was honoured with the annual Governor’s Award in the fields of science and innovations for 2020 for their work “3He/4He Dilution Cryostat for Obtaining Ultra-Low Temperatures (25 mK)”.
The uniqueness of this device is due to the combination of the possibility of achieving ultra-low temperatures (below 50 mK) with sufficient cooling capacity for the experiment, as well as the possibility of conducting continuous long-term experiments (up to several months) [1]. This setup is the main, most complex and expensive unit of polarized frozen targets, widely used in experiments at particle accelerators to study the nature of the spin of elementary particles [2,3].

“Scientists and teams of authors presenting the most promising scientific developments and research on various fields annually become laureates of the Award of the Governor of the Moscow region in the fields of science. This year, for example, studies on medicine, nuclear technologies, material sciences, physics, chemistry, and other scientific fields were awarded the prize. The amount of the Award is 700,000 rubles,” Minister of Investments, Industry and Science of the Moscow region Ekaterina Zinovieva said. Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyev approved 15 awards in the fields of science and innovations for young scientists and specialists. The winners of the Award in 2020 are 13 scientists and two teams of authors from Chernogolovka, Pushchino, Fryazino, Dubna, Korolev, Mytishchi, Odintsovo, Shatura, Podolsk, as well as a staff member of the Moscow Regional Scientific and Research Clinical Institute located in Moscow.
The Institute’s staff congratulates young scientists on being honoured with the prestigious prize and wishes them further brilliant victories and creative success!
In 2019, the Governor’s award was presented to a researcher of the HMPRD DLNP JINR Nikolai Sergeevich Azaryan. The Governor’s Prize for 2017 was awarded to Deputy Director of the Science Organization and International Cooperation Office of JINR Oleg Valerievich Belov. The Award of the Governor for 2016 was presented to Yuliya Vyacheslavovna Vinogradova, a staff member of the Laboratory of Radiation Biology JINR.
