Если цель большинства массовых популярных изданий – делать научные истины достоянием людей, далеких от науки, то Еженедельник ОИЯИ ориентируется не на читателя вообще, а на вполне определенную аудиторию: ученых, инженеров, рабочих высокого класса. В этом специфика нашего еженедельника, в этом заключается и сложность работы коллектива газеты, который ставит перед собой цель сочетать популярность изложения с исключительной научной строгостью, достоверностью, ведь всякая сенсационность нашим авторам и читателям чужда.

В условиях международного научного центра трудно провести резкую грань между темой науки и темой сотрудничества ученых разных стран, которое с самых первых номеров стало еще одной ведущей темой. Практически все ведущие ученые стран-участниц, имена которых носят аллеи на площадках Института, были авторами газеты или с готовностью давали интервью ее корреспондентам. Таким образом, еженедельник “Дубна” стал международной научной трибуной, рассказывая о выдающихся результатах научных исследований и технических достижениях. При этом газета никогда не забывала о том, что ОИЯИ -уникальная школа высшей квалификации для ученых и инженеров из всех стран-участниц. Путь становления ученого стал еще одной магистральной темой газеты. Пожалуй, не будет преувеличением сказать, что на ее страницах создается в какой-то степени коллективный портрет современного ученого, достаточно достоверный и объективный. Знакомясь с рассказами о деятельности ученых, как известных, так и молодых, можно глубже понять, как делается наука, как она трудна и как нелегок “путь к ее сияющим вершинам”.“Дубна” – такая же необходимая часть жизни ОИЯИ, как препринты, библиотека, семинары, конференции. “Дубна” – часть того, что я бы назвал институтским “информационным полем”, и без нее это “поле” будет неполным, дырявым. Из недели в неделю она ведет свою летопись будничной жизни науки в ее преломлении через судьбу ОИЯИ и работающих здесь людей и сообщает нам друг о друге, а всем вместе – о нас самих (как сказал бы М.Жванецкий). Outstanding scientists of Kazakhstan, Russia, and South Africa awarded the OGANESSON-2024 Prize
The ceremony took place on 14 February 2025 at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow). The founders of the prize are Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Yuri Oganessian and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

Science news, accelerator launch, elections
On 13-14 February, the 137th session of the Scientific Council of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was held in the International Conference Centre in a hybrid format. At the meeting, the news of the Laboratories and divisions of the Institute were presented, Co-chairman of the Scientific Council, Director of FLNR and Deputy Directors of LRB were elected. The decision of jury on awarding JINR Annual Prizes for the best scientific papers was approved.
Denes Nagy: “Discussion was lively and fruitful”
Having freed himself after participating in the 137th session of the Scientific Council, Chairman of the PAC for Condensed Matter Physics Professor Denes Nagy summarized the results of the 60th meeting of the PAC held on 27 January.
From school curiosity – to detectors for nuclear physics
The guest of our section is Alexander Nartov, a fifth-year student of the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University “LETI” named after V.I.Ulyanov (Lenin). Two years ago, he first came to practice at JINR, although in absentia was a much earlier. Today, Alexander is preparing to defense his PhD thesis, his supervisors in JINR speak about him as a talented, promising young specialist. We asked A.Nartov to tell about how his path to science developed and how this path stretched to Dubna.

In the wake of the departed (Miroslav Finger)
On 10 January, Miroslav Finger, a professor of Mathematics and Physics Faculty of Charles University in Prague that has worked in JINR for many years passed away. M.Finger is an outstanding Czech specialist in the field of nuclear physics, physics of elementary particles, physics of low temperatures and in the use of nuclear techniques in the condensed matter physics.
What the souvenirs told us about
A memorial plate and a medal issued on the 20th anniversary of JINR; an invitation ticket to the jubilee meeting of CP, a folder with the address and a programme of events in the name of L.G.Mezentsev; a specially issued envelope and a stamp, redeemed with the JINR special stamp – such rarities were handed over to the Dubna Museum by Alexander Ageenko that received them from the hands of L.G.Mezentsev’s daughter. It turned out that Leonid Mezentsev was Deputy Minister of Sredmash on personnel. And it is not the only amazing fact noticed by the employees of the museum …

On 22 February, a concert of the Russian State Academic Chamber “Vivaldi-Orchestra” will be held at the JINR Cultural Centre “Mir”.
