The JINR Postdoctoral Programme is aimed at young scientists specialising in theoretical and experimental particle physics, relativistic heavy ion physics, nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, and radiobiology. The original appointment will be for 1 year, with the possibility to renew it for another 2 years. Applications are accepted until 1 April.

The Postdoctoral Programme (postdoc, postdoctoral research, postdoctoral fellowship) is a temporary position (rate) at universities and scientific and research institutions, which is occupied by young scientists with a PhD degree shortly after defending their theses. The JINR Postdoctoral Programme provides an opportunity for young early-stage researchers to take part in scientific projects of the Joint Institute. Along with that, the participants will gain experience working in an international team and will have access to advanced scientific equipment.

“The main treasure of the Institute is people. I hope that the JINR Postdoctoral Programme becomes a magnet for young talented scientists. At JINR they will be able to join the challenge of solving ambitious scientific tasks, and the Institute is waiting for an influx of new, bold ideas, and the development of fundamental and applied research. The programme will select 15 participants who will receive serious financial support — up to 2,300 USD per month,” Director of the Joint Institute Grigory Trubnikov said.

The implementation of the Institute’s priority projects creates unique opportunities for research and training. The participants of the JINR Postdoctoral Programme will be able to take full advantage of it for themselves. The programme includes a wide range of topics such as neutrino and nuclear physics, biophysics, materials research (including nanomaterials), high-performance computing, accelerator technology, superconducting magnets, theory.

The programme participants should be able to work well in an international environment, such as large multinational collaborations. The applicant is also expected to take on responsibilities for experiments and analytical work and should be able to work independently as needed.
