JINR got a new patent
Patents, 30 January 2019
The Licensing and Intellectual Property Department of JINR announces that on 11 January 2019, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received a patent for the invention “Device for output of charged particles from cyclic accelerator”. The author of the work is Gennadij Varlamovich Dolbilov.
JINR staff congratulates the author on receiving the patent for his invention!
More details about the invention
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to accelerator technology and can be used to output particles from cyclic accelerators. The device consists of three magnetic dipoles, two of which, input and output, are located at an angle to each other, and the third dipole is parallel to the input dipole and has a reverse polarity of the magnetic field. Input dipole and output dipoles deflect particles by an angle θ=2(α+β), which does not depend on the energy of the accelerated particles, which allows returning particles to a stationary orbit in the whole range of accelerated particles (α and β – angles of incidence and reflection of particles in the input and output dipoles). This mode of operation of the output device occurs when the particle energy does not exceed the threshold value. When the accelerated particle reaches the threshold value, the particle enters a dipole with reverse polarity and is removed from the accelerator.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of particle removal from the accelerator
