JINR Days in Moldova

On 2 June 2016, in Chisinau, a JINR delegation headed by JINR Vice-Director Richard Lednický took part in the scientific conference “Days of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Moldova”. The conference was held in the administrative buildings of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) in the frames of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of JINR and the 55th anniversary of ASM.
The conference was opened in a ceremonial atmosphere and was chaired by ASM First Vice-President, Plenipotentiary Representative of the government of Moldova in JINR, Academician Ion Tighineanu. Chairman of the parliamentary committee of Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports and Media Vladimir Hotineanu made the welcoming speech. The opening was attended by diplomatic representatives from embassies of Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The Russian diplomat, Minister Counsellor Vladimir A. Lapshin delivered the welcoming speech on behalf the country-seat of JINR. JINR Vice-Director Richard Lednický presented honorary diplomas to Moldovan scientists and staff of organizations cooperating with JINR. Special attention was paid to the personal contribution of ASM Academician Vsevolod Moskalenko, who was Plenipotentiary Representative of the government of Moldova in JINR for more than fifteen years since 1992 and, as participants of the conference noted, actually, paved the way for the present successful collaboration of Moldovan scientists with JINR. The scientific programme of the conference included an overview of theoretical and experimental collaborative work, achievements of scientific research in Moldova and the major JINR projects. In the frames of the celebration a poster exhibition demonstrating the present-day JINR and participation of Moldova in JINR activities was opened in one of the halls of the ASM administrative building.
In the frames of the visit of the delegation to Chisinau, Ion Tighineanu, Richard Lednický and Dmitry Kamanin, Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department, were welcomed in the Government of Moldova by Vice-Premier Mr. Gheorghe Brega. The participants of the meeting informed the Vice-Premier about the present status of the Institute, opportunities for Moldovan scientists and engineers, educational projects, and invited him to visit Dubna in the nearest future. In his turn, Gheorghe Brega noted the importance of cooperation with JINR for Moldova and accepted with interest the invitation to visit the Institute.
On 3 June, the JINR delegation met with Rector of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM), Professor Viorel Bostan and Dean of the Faculty of computers, Informatics and microelectronics of TUM Ion Balmuş. During the meeting, the guests acquainted the leaders of the University with the most important facts about JINR and paid special attention to prospects for engineering students and the summer student programme. The delegation visited scientific and educational laboratories of the University. LIT Deputy Director, Professor Gheorghe Adam and UC Director, Professor Stanislav Pakuliak gave lectures to students of the Faculty.
