Independence Day of Georgia

The Independence Day of Georgia is a national holiday of Georgia celebrated on 26 May in memory of the independence of the republic in 1918.
Georgian scientists have been actively involved in the work of JINR since its foundation making a significant contribution to numerous science programmes of the Institute. Academician and President of the Academy of Sciences of Georgia Albert N. Tavkhelidze (1930 – 2010) worked at JINR for many years. He laid groundwork for and then determined priorities and participation of most Georgian scientists in activities of the international Institute.
Currently, JINR is actively cooperating with scientific organizations of Georgia, among which are the Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association, the Institute of Cybernetics, the Razmadze Mathematics Institute, the Andronikashvily Physics Institute, the Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the High Energy Physics Institute of Tbilisi State University, the Georgian Technical University, the Georgian University.
The collaboration is underway in the frames of 10 topics of the JINR Topical Plan, including the fields of theoretical physics, nuclear physics, elementary particle physics, relativistic nuclear physics, as well as information technologies.
The Directorate of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research congratulates Georgian colleagues and partners, as well as their relatives, on the Independence Day of Georgia and wishes them good health, happiness, well-being, luck, and new professional successes for the benefits of science and progress.
