9th meeting of Serbia-JINR Cooperation Committee took place in Belgrade

The 9th meeting of the JINR-Serbia Joint Coordination Committee on Cooperation (JCC) took place on 30 November and 1 December in Belgrade as part of the visit of the Institute’s delegation to the Republic of Serbia. JINR Chief Scientific Secretary Sergey Nedelko headed the delegation.
Director of the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences Snežana Pajović welcomed the JINR delegation on their first day in Belgrade. The sides exchanged views on issues of cooperation between the Institutes. The visit continued with a working meeting that brought together 33 leaders of ongoing and new joint projects from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, and Kragujevac. The Coordinator for Cooperation with JINR Ljupčo Hadžievski summed up the results of the year. The participants of the meeting put forward a number of initiatives aimed at developing cooperation and discussed organizational issues related to project financing, student participation, involvement of third parties, and evaluation of the effectiveness of projects. All parties showed active interest in continuing and deepening cooperation.
The JINR delegation included JINR Chief Engineer Boris Gikal, co-head of the joint project on cooperation in the field of accelerator technologies. JINR representatives visited the Accelerator Department of the Vinča Institute, got acquainted with the accelerator complex, and met the employees of the department. As a result, the sides discussed the next steps of the future joint work, and JINR offered internships at FLNR JINR for the department’s employees.
LRB JINR Director Alexander Bugay, accompanied by Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department Otilia-Ana Culicov and UC JINR Director and Coordinator for Cooperation with the Republic of Serbia Dmitry Kamanin, visited the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia and discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of radiobiology.
The final session of the Committee included a meeting with State Secretary Vukašin Grozdić at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia. The State Secretary confirmed the Ministry’s intention to further strengthen scientific ties with JINR, particularly in the field of education and personnel training. The participants of the meeting noted the good results of this year’s joint research projects and the noticeable progress in the development of overall scientific and technical cooperation. One of the practical results of the 9th session of the Joint Committee was the summing up of the collection of applications and the launch of 12 new projects.
