JINR Newsletter #12, 2 April 2025Dear colleagues and friends, The Joint Institute continues to bring together representatives of different cities and countries united by the common goal of promoting science and technology. Cooperation with Serbia and Mongolia was discussed, and the Institute’s scientists participated in a working meeting in South Africa. Collaboration with partners in the Institute’s residence country is developing as well. A visit of colleagues from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education took place. In addition, JINR employees organized a physics scientific seminar in Kamchatka Krai. A video about the launch of the NICA Accelerator Complex, results of the expedition to Baikal, an article about the celebration of the Institute’s Foundation Day, and much more — in the new issue of the JINR Newsletter. Flagship Projects2025 expedition to deploy Baikal-GVD Telescope completedAlthough the annual expedition finished early due to inclement weather, specialists modernised two clusters and installed a new one. In adddition, the collaboration members deployed a string with optical modules and conducted hydrology experiments. READ MORE ➟CooperationDelegation of Serbian Ministry of Science visited JINROn 27 March, one of the State Secretaries of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of Serbia, Miroslav Trajanović, met with the JINR Directorate to discuss cooperation prospects. Serbian delegation representatives also took part in the CP session and visited the Institute’s laboratories. READ MORE ➟JINR held radiobiology working meeting in South AfricaThe event brought together over 50 radiobiologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists at iThemba LABS. As part of the meeting, scientists from JINR and South Africa discussed the ongoing joint research, visit exchange, and the participation of young students and specialists in the JINR University Centre programmes. READ MORE ➟Visit of Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to JINRPlenipotentiary of Mongolia at JINR Suren Davaa and Director of the Nuclear Research Centre at the Mongolian State University Byambajav Munkhbat met with representatives of the Institute’s Directorate and visited laboratories. The meeting focused on aspects of developing cooperation, including holding a NUMAR conference in Mongolia this summer. At a meeting with representatives of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, the parties discussed the progress of the NICA Project and agreed to continue closely cooperating in shaping the Institute’s economic and budgeting policy. It was devoted to physical experiments and the basics of project activity in physics classes. READ MORE ➟CelebrationsJINR Foundation Day celebrationOn 26 March, an event marking the 69th anniversary of JINR took place at the Mir Cultural Centre. The programme included awarding of the Institute’s employees, JINR Scientific Council Co-Chair Sergei Kilin, and Dubna teachers. The ceremony concluded with a concert by the Russian State Symphony Orchestra of Cinematography. Students of grades 10 and 11 are invited to apply on the school’s website and then take an entrance exam.
