2006 – 2008 JINR Prize was awarded to President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Boris Paton for outstanding contribution to science and development of international cooperation, and to Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honorary Director of BLTP JINR Dmitry Shirkov for his outstanding contribution to theoretical physics, in particular, for development of new methods in quantum field theory.

The Prize was established by the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States in 1995, and is awarded every three years to two scientists from different countries.

JINR Director Academician A.N. Sissakian cordially congratulated the laureates, highlighting the fact that the winners were awarded the prize on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nikolay N. Bogoliubov.
