VBLHEP developed new method of manufacturing HTS cable joints
News, 27 December 2024
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research has obtained a patent for a method of manufacturing high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable joints. The authors are the employees of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics at JINR Andrey Shemchuk, Maxim Ilyin, and Mikhail Novikov.
The invention relates to the manufacture of a joint for direct flow-cooled tubular superconducting cables designed to generate pulsed magnetic fields.
Such joints will be used to connect sections and inject current into the superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) for the NICA Accelerator Complex, and to create new superconducting magnets for the New Nuclotron Accelerator.
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research obtained patent RU 2832195 for the invention entitled “A method of manufacturing high-temperature superconductor cable joints” on 23 December 2024.
Congratulations to Andrey Shemchuk, Maxim Ilyin, and Mikhail Novikov on receiving the state registration!
