To the coming conference in Ulaanbaatar

On 25 — 27 October 2017, a delegation of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research paid a working visit to Mongolia to participate in several high-level meetings and a meeting of the organizing committee of an educational conference which will be held in Ulaanbaatar in August 2018.
The meeting of the Organizing Committee of the conference, preliminarily entitled “Modern Trends in Science and Advanced Technology in Natural Sciences Education”, was held in the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia (ASM). The discussion of a set of organizational issues and topics of the conference was attended by prominent scientists, Mongolian academicians and also young researchers who are members of the Local Organizing Committee. The meeting participants agreed to complete preparations and to announce details of the conference before 20 November 2017.
Working meetings during the visit of the JINR delegation were devoted to enhancement of cooperation with JINR, increasing the involvement of young Mongolian scientists in joint projects with the Institute and rising awareness of the public in Mongolia. The JINR delegation was received by Secretary and Head of the Nuclear Energy Commission of Mongolia Gun-Aajav Manlaijav, President of the ASM, academician Duger Regdel, Director of the Department for Science of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Mongolia Academician Tudev Gan-Erdene. During the meetings, the timeliness of steps in development of cooperation with JINR was noted in view of the recent decisions of the government of Mongolia that raised the status of works connected to the use of nuclear energy and related educational initiatives.
The guests from Dubna were welcomed by leaders of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, the New Mongol Institute of Technology, the Kubilai Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics of the ASM. In conclusion of the visit programme a meeting of the JINR delegation with members of the Committee on Science and Education of the State Great Hural was held. Parliamentarians emphasized the importance of the participation of Mongolia in JINR and promised full support to initiatives for its development.
The visit of the JINR representatives was organized by Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of Mongolia in JINR Professor Suren Davaa and Academician Deleg Sangaa who took an active part in the work of the delegation. The meetings that were held in Ulaanbaatar continued the work on development of cooperation with Mongolian research organizations and universities, initiated during the celebration of the 60th anniversary of JINR in June 2016.
