News, 22 April 2024
On 22 April, the opening of the Third All-Russian Conference entitled “Fundamental Physics and Applied Technologies” took place at the Engineering Physics Institute of the Dubna State University. The event is organized by Dubna University, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, enterprises of the innovative territorial cluster of nuclear physics and nanotechnology, and the Dubna Special Economic Zone.
The University’s Acting Rector Andrey Denikin gave an opening speech. During his talk, he congratulated the participants on the start of the conference and provided an overview of the event’s format and the topics to be covered in the presentations.
Igor Nemchenok, the Acting Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Dubna State University, Head of the DLNP JINR Group for Organic Scintillation Detectors at the Scientific and Experimental Department of Nuclear Spectroscopy and Radiochemistry, welcomed the audience.
“Physics is a truly magical science that encompasses many research areas. It is the core of all natural sciences. During the working week, participants of the conference will present reports reflecting the applied aspect of modern research. There is nothing more fundamental than quantum physics. Without it, the advancement of modern technology and electronics would be impossible today”, Igor Nemchenok noted on the importance of physics.
During the plenary session on the first day, representatives of enterprises of the innovative territorial cluster of nuclear physics and nanotechnology and the Dubna Special Economic Zone delivered reports.
This year’s conference features three sections:
- “Electronics: from Accelerator Complexes to Applied Tasks”;
- “Physics: Theory and Experiment”;
- “Aircraft Construction, Power Engineering, Electrotechnology: Innovative Engineering Solutions”.
Students, postgraduates, young specialists, and leading researchers from JINR and other scientific centres and Russian universities will talk about these research areas in their reports.
The objectives of this event are to demonstrate the results of research conducted by students and postgraduates, to promote science among young people, and to engage talented students in scientific endeavours.
The Fundamental Physics and Applied Technologies Conference takes place from 22 to 25 April in a hybrid format. The event programme includes more than 70 presentations on various topics.
