We would like to remind you that the tennis tournamnet in memory of outstanding Russian physicists, RAS Corresponding Members Venedikt Petrovich and Boris Sergeevish Dzhelepov was initiated in 2000s by Igor Borisovich Dzhelepov, a USSR master of sports, Vice-President of the Tennis Federation of the North-Western region of Russia, current Professor of the Saint-Petersburg State Institute of Technology and Meritorious Physical Culture Worker of the Russian Federation.

Organizing the tournament in memory of the brothers in Dubna, Igor Dzhelepov set a task to revive a tennis traditions of the city on courts of which Bruno Pontecorvo, the champion of Italy in tennis in his youth, competed, masters of sports Lev Shulga, Vladimir Zaitsev, Michael Ossetian and many other tennis enthusiasts pleased the audience with virtuosic game.

In different years, among the guests of the tournament there were Gennady Burbulis, Anatoly Dolgolaptev, Nikolai Karachentsev, Andrei Smirnov, Alexander Pashutin, Sergei Krikalev, Musa Manarov, Alexander Ivanchenkov, Alexander Zhulin, Sergei Yasnitsky and many other prominent representatives of politics, art, astronauts, athletes.
