On 15 February, the Republic of Serbia, an Associate Member of the Joint Institute, celebrates the Statehood Day, its main national holiday.

JINR and Serbian scientists have a long history of collaborating. Serbian researchers cooperate with BLTP, VBLHEP, FLNP, FLNR, and LRB at JINR. In 2025, the Joint Institute worked together with scientific organizations of Serbia on projects of 16 topics of the JINR Topical Plan, including the development of the NICA and DRIBs-III Accelerator Complexes, the LINAC-200 Electron Accelerator, the IBR-2 Reactor and its spectrometer complex, theoretical physics, research on the ionising radiation’s biological effects, radiation materials science, experimental data processing and analysis, and educational programmes.
