Scientific holiday in Dubna

More than 1000 guests visited the Dubna site of the Nauka 0+ Festival “Hitchhiking around the Galaxy” on 20 October 2018 organized by the University “Dubna” that became a regional site of the famous All-Russian Scientific Festival for the first time. Organizers of the Dubna event, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the “Dubna” University, presented a real holiday of science and education to participants.
In the university buildings, visitors of all ages – from adults to children – participated in activities at various stations for preparing to a space travel, took part in scientific experiments and competitions, watched impressive scientific shows as well as gained new experience at fascinating workshops. Visitors had an opportunity to try their hands in geology, programming, data security, engineering, and cryptography, to pass the psychological training to the flight and even master the space cuisine. These are not all the activities included in the exciting programme of the scientific festival in Dubna.
Is the flight to the Mars possible? What polymers are capable of? How does work of a physicist look like? Young participants of the Festival could get the answers to such questions in the frames of the lectures. For the older audience, a meeting with an honored guest of the Festival, Hero of the Russian Federation, pilot cosmonaut Avdeev S.V. was organized at which he delivered a lecture “Moon manned programme. Is it possible?” and answered numerous questions of the audience.
