School students from Zelenograd visited JINR

On 18 January 2017, a group of high school students from Zelenograd school No. 1739 visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. Excursions to the Museum of History of Science and Technology of JINR, as well as to the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics were organized for the high school students.
Museum staff members A.Zlotnikova and K.Kozubsky acquainted the school students with the main directions of scientific activity of the Joint Institute, spoke about the JINR history, and demonstrated the exhibits of the Museum. In the “Experimentarium” the school students had the opportunity to take part in some physics experiments: to build the Leonardo da Vinci’s Bridge, to walk on lamp flooring, to test the operation of the beads fountain, Tesla coil, Foucault pendulum, plasma ball, magnetic fluid.
The acquaintance with JINR was continued in the Laboratory of High Energy Physics. Specialist of the Research and Experimental Department of superconducting magnets and technologies O.Kunchenko spoke to the visitors about the Synchrophasotron accelerator and the NICA collider which is being developed; he made an excursion to the Nuclotron, as well as to the hall for assembly and testing of superconducting magnets.
VBLHEP Scientific Researcher D. Dryablov guided the school students to the BM@N facility and gave a talk on the experiments that will be carried out at the Dubna Collider.
