Director of the Institute of scientific-technical Information of the Republic of Cuba (IDKIT) Carmen Sanchez and Head of the IDKIT International relations Department Lourdes Machado spent three days at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

The programme of the visit was busy and eventful. The guests met in Dubna with representatives of the Russian Service of scientific news “Informnauka”. This company participated in the 18th International Book Fair in Havana, and also took part in the International Congress on information organized by IDIKT.

The guests visited JINR University Center (UC), where they attended the opening ceremony of Egypt students trainings. UC Director S.Z.Pakulyak spoke about programmes of schools and trainings for students and young specialists of the JINR Member States. At LIT P.V.Zrelov, T.A.Strizh, J.J.Musulmanbekov acquainted the guests with major directions of LIT activities and wide area of implementation of GRID technologies. Fundamental research was presented by S.I.Sidorchuk at the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions and by A.V.Zarubin at the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics.

The visit was finished with a discussion in JINR Directorate where JINR was represented by JINR Vice-Director R. Lednický, G.M.Arzumanyan, D.V.Kamanin, S.Z.Pakulyak. The leading idea of the discussion was an intention expressed by the Cuban side to restore scientific-technical relations of the Republic of Cuba with the Joint Institute.
