A Russian-Taiwanese symposium
News, 10 January 2011
A delegation from JINR participated in the Russian-Taiwanese symposium on scientific cooperation in nuclear research and methods of nuclear medicine on 10-13 January 2011. The symposium was organized by the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in Hsinchu. JINR was represented by FLNP Director A.V. Belushkin, Deputy Chief Scientific Secretary D.V.Kamanin, Head of FLNP Group of Small Angle Scattering A.I.Kuklin and DLNP Deputy Director E.M.Syresin. They gave presentations about JINR activities.
The symposium was held in three major sections focused on research methods of nano-objects using small angle scattering and neutron reflectometery, on accelerator physics and production of isotopes and on selected issues of nuclear medicine. The JINR delegation visited the National synchrotron centre situated near the College for Nuclear Science of NTHU where the symposium was held. Deputy Director of FLNP D.Sangaa, who came to Taiwan as a member of a delegation of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences in the frames of the joint Mongolian- Taiwanese research project on application of synchrotron radiation for research of fuel cells materials, also joined the symposium.
It was noted in discussions that since the first contact of JINR with the National Taiwan Agency on Research and Technology a considerable number of JINR scientists have visited Taiwan in the last decade to participate in joint research. JINR resources for research and training of young scientists are also a potential interest for the Taiwanese side. Therefore the next similar meeting on scientific cooperation could be held this year in Dubna.
