At a regular meeting of the JINR Scientific and Technical council, which was held on 11 July at the JINR House of Scientists and was headed by I.N.Meshkov, nomination of candidates for the title of the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held. Candidates who had been nominated at STC meetings of JINR laboratories were discussed by STC Chairmen of JINR laboratories and members of the Academy.

JINR Scientific and Technical council nominated Yuri Konstantinovich Akimov for the award of the title “Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation”.

The next part of the meeting was devoted to scientific youth – a presentation of awards of the young laureates of the scientists’ competition was held.

JINR Chief Engineer G.D.Shirkov spoke about the status and prospects of development of the JINR power supply system, according to tasks of the seven-year plan for the development of JINR.

JINR Elected Director V.A.Matveev and JINR Acting Director M.G.Itkis participated in the STC meeting.
