A session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of JINR Member States chaired by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of RF L.M. Ogorodnikova was held on 25 March 2014 in the International Conference Hall.
Opening the session, L.M. Ogorodnikova noted that Russia particularly appreciates accomplishment of its authority into the development of the agreement, under which JINR works. "And in the most difficult times – she said, – Russia treated with a responsible attitude the fulfillment of its financial obligations in the interest of science in the important and competitive area of fundamental research in nuclear and particle physics. Today, Russia legislatively signed its financial obligations under the agreement of the JINR member states and continues its mission; Russia is financing development of the mega-science project NICA with great enthusiasm. I wish us all good work." L.M. Ogorodova read a greeting telegram from RF Minister of Education and Science Dmitri Livanov, who congratulated the staff of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research on the 58th anniversary of the JINR foundation, wishing everyone good health, prosperity , new discoveries and every success.”
JINR Director Academician V.A. Matveev presented at the session the first report about the recommendations of the 115th session of the Scientific Council (February 2014) and the major results of JINR activity in 2013. JINR Chief Accountant S.N. Dotsenko reported on the JINR budget implementation. Chairman of the JINR Finance Committee S.Kulganek (Czech Republic) presented to participants of the session the information on milestones of the meeting of the JINR Financial Committee which was held on 21-22 March.
Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States approved the appointment of G.V. Trubnikov as JINR Vice-Director, presented by JINR Director V.A. Matveev. The Curriculum vitae of newly elected Vice- Director see at the JINR web site.
G.V. Trubnikov made a report “JINR scientific infrastructure in the fields of research on heavy ion beams: status and prospects”.
Director of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems V.A. Bednyakov devoted his report to neutrino physics and astrophysics which is the advanced scientific trend in JINR.
Head of sector of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics M.V. Frontasieva spoke about JINR participation in the United Nations Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution.
V.A. Matveev presented the JINR commemorative honorary medal to Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic R. Mach for his long-standing fruitful work as a member of the JINR Committee of Plenipotentiaries.
A general discussion and adoption of decisions concluded the session.
The Plenipotentiaries of JINR Member States participated in ceremonial events dedicated to the JINR Foundation Day on 26 March.
