The nanotechnology center "Dubna" was opened on 15 July 2014 in the Special Economic Zone. This is the eighth center of the 11 planned: projects of Zelenograd, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Troitsk, two from Moscow, Gatchina, Ulyanovsk, Saransk, Kazan also won the competition in their time.

The opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Executive Board of "RUSNANO" Anatoly Chubais, General Director of the Foundation of the infrastructure and educational programmes A. Svinarenko, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government D. Butsayev, Minister of Education of the Moscow Region M. Zakharova, General Director of the nanocenter A. Gostomelski.

The project budget is 2 milliard roubles, including RUSNANO co-financing in the amount of 1.1 milliard roubles. Partners and investors of the project are JINR, the Concern "RTI Systems ", the JSC "Firm IT”. Information Technology" and the Special Economic Zone. Specialized technological sites are being created in the territory of JINR, the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the University "Dubna", Innovation Technological Cluster "Exten" and the Cosmetic Association"Svoboda".

By the present time, more than 40 projects have been launched in the nanocenter "Dubna" – CEO Alexei Gostomelski said at the presentation ceremony. – Expected revenue for the 2014 will be more than 700 million roubles. Some of the projects presented here have already been applied in appropriate areas.

The Nanocenter basic specializations are "smart" coating, green energy, personalized medicine, new materials and cosmeceutics (a direction, formed at the junction of cosmetology and pharmacology). Products’ samples and techniques of companies were presented at the nanocenter presentation. Among them are the "Cosmeceutics incubator" (business incubator in the fields of production of cosmetics, the joint project of the Cosmetical Association"Svoboda", the MSU and the nanocenter "Dubna"), the "Quasicrystals" (production and application of quasicrystals), the "Protective Coatings" (development and production of coatings with water-repellent, antiseptic, protective properties), startups "Deepipe technology" (production of nanocomposite metal pipes), "LumInnoTech" (processing of organosilicon luminophor) and others.

Chairman of the Executive Board of "RUSNANO" Anatoly Chubais said at a press conference:
– This is the eighth nanocenter. This is a factory for startups, the place where startups can be born, will be born and are born at present. As a whole, there are more than 250 nanocenters today in the nanocenters network in our country, more than 40 nanocenters are in Dubna. Surely, not all of them will survive, not all of them will be like Apple or Google, but these firms were born this way in their time. And for us, this is the great event to start cooperation with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna city, the Moscow region and the SEZ "Dubna". This is the result and simultaneously the start of constant startups stream generation; moreover, from what I’ve seen here, there are clearly a real jewels.
