Participants of Shanghai Cooperation Organization business incubator visited JINR

From 24 to 27 September, the final part of the International Youth Acceleration Programme “Business Incubator of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)” took place in Moscow and the Moscow Region. The last two days of the event, held in the Dubna Special Economic Zone (SEZ), were devoted to introducing the participants to the scientific and industrial enterprises of the city.

JINR Assistant Chief Engineer Stepan Shirkov presented the “Proton therapy. JINR experience and proposals” report as part of the first day of the programme at the Dubna SEZ Congress centre. On the second day of the intensive course, the participants visited VBLHEP and MLIT at JINR, where they saw the flagship Megascience Project of the Joint Institute, the NICA Accelerator Complex, and the core of the JINR Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex (MICC), the Govorun Supercomputer. The young entrepreneurs learned about other projects of the Joint Institute at the JINR Main Facilites exhibition in the Mir Cultural Centre.

This year, 50 entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 years, citizens of Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia and Uzbekistan, attend the acceleration programme. They are the heads of individual projects, startups, and companies in various areas, from applied physics and chemistry to IT and pedagogy, from pharmaceuticals to restaurant business and logistics.

The International Youth Acceleration Programme “SCO Business Incubator” was held in Moscow and the Moscow Region with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. The programme was organized by the Russian members of the SCO Youth Council, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the Skolkovo Foundation, the Government of the Moscow Region, the Dubna SEZ, and the Leaders of International Cooperation ANPO. The programme is supported by the President of the Russian Federation. On 4 July 2024, as part of a SCO Heads of State Council Meeting, President Vladimir Putin invited representatives of the SCO countries to Dubna to participate in the International Youth Programme.
