Observation of positive-parity wave in low-energy spectrum of 7Не

News, 02 September 2024

An article entitled “Observation of a positive-parity wave in the low-energy spectrum of 7Не” by a group of scientists from the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at JINR was published in Physical Review C.

JINR physicists studied the 7Не nucleus by the 1Н(6Не, р)7Не reaction at 29A·MeV beam energy. The 7Не spectrum was measured up to an excitation energy of 8 MeV above the 6Не + 𝑛 threshold. The forward-backward asymmetry in the neutron emission from unbound states of 7Не was found. That implies the presence of a positive parity partial wave in the 7Не spectrum.
