“A new snow tractor “Buran” was allocated to the youth sports school “Dubna” for laying ski tracks,” Head of the Social Infrastructure Management Office of JINR Andrei V. Tamonov informed.

Now, documents necessary for using a new machine are being prepared. Preparation of tracks will start when a necessary level of the snow layer will be formed in forests. The new “Buran” will allow achieving a significant increase in the distance of tracks for skiers. As Director of the youth sports school Alexey V. Charykov highlighted, thanks to the new machine and the equipped crosswalk at the Novoye road, there is an opportunity to prepare the 10 km long track on both sides of the road. “This old dream finally came true thanks to the support of the Joint Insititute. Our next aim for joint efforts is to provide lightening of 5 km of the ski track. For this aim, a project should be drafted, pylons should be erected, electricity is needed to be supplied.” At the moment, only 2 km distance out of 5 of the ski track is lightened.
