Mikhail Kotyukov about membership of France in JINR

During the expert discussion of the “Trianon dialogue” held with participation of Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of France Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Plenipotentiary Representative of the RF in JINR Mikhail Kotyukov said that the French party expresses interest in projects of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, and in 2019, steps will be taken to make France a JINR Associate Member.
“We note the interest of French colleagues to a project in Dubna and hope that in 2019, we will move forward on this issue towards formalization of associate membership in this international organization. We will go further. In the frames of the national project “Nauka” (lit. “Science”), a set of large projects is prepared for implementation in Russia, including the construction of mega-science facilities in the fields of nuclear physics, development of the scientific and research infrastructure. I believe that we can unite our efforts in this regard,” he said.
Mikhail Kotyukov reminded that Russian scientists also participate in large-scale projects in France, namely based on the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor ITER.
Following the words by Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of France Frédérique Vidal, one more large-scale project for cooperation may be the creation of the infrastructure for Big Data necessary for technological development based on artificial intelligence “our future stands for”. “At large, scientific cooperation develops in various fields, in particular, in already mentioned mathematics, nuclear and theoretical physics as well as in the fields of economics, management, political science… France and Russia have been already cooperating particularly in these fields,” French Minister added.
The “Trianon Dialogue” was launched in December 2017. It is aimed to strengthen contacts between the civil societies of Russia and France and to develop new opportunities for improving contacts. Active participation of citizens, public organizations and enterprises is supposed. One of the cites for the “Trianon dialogue” is the annual international scientific and practical conference in the fields of economics the “Gaidar Forum”.
