Live broadcast of OGANESSON Prize ceremony on Scientific Russia portal

On 16 February, at 8:30 PM, in Moscow, an award ceremony of the OGANESSON Prize established by Scientific Leader of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, RAS Academician Yuri Oganessian and JINR will take place. The OGANESSON Prize was created at the suggestion and expense of RAS Academician Yuri T. Oganessian and established at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in 2023.
In 2022, Academician Yuri Oganessian received the Sber Scientific Prize for his fundamental work on the synthesis of superheavy elements. He decided to direct the 20 million rubles that he received to support young scientists and popularisers of science, as well as cultivate talents in the field irrespective of their age.
The Prize is awarded annually for significant achievements in theoretical and experimental research in physics, chemistry, biology, and applied problems, as well as for creative endeavours that popularise science by means of educational and scientific activities.
This year’s award winners are:
- Ana María Cetto Kramis, physics professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, JINR Scientific Council member;
- Mikhail Shvydkoy, Doctor of Arts, Art Director of the Moscow Musical Theatre;
- Valeria Pershina, chemistry professor at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research (Germany);
- Vasily Semin, Head of the Scientific and Experimental Department of the Accelerator Complex of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at JINR.
