Agreement on participation in the student programme of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research of students of the European Physical Society (EPS) was reached on 18 June at an online EPS-JINR meeting.

Participants of the event discussed issues of the cooperation of scientists within scientific groups of the two organizations, as well as identified areas of common interest for their further development.

EPS representatives highlighted theoretical physics, particle physics, nuclear physics, and high-performance computing as promising realms for co-organizing schools and conferences.

Moreover, the parties outlined the prospects for cooperation in terms of internships and programmes organized by the JINR University Centre. In particular, EPS expressed interest in the UC Summer Student Programme and the INTEREST online programme. JINR representatives invited EPS students to participate in the events.

EPS representatives also learned about the activities of the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists of JINR (AYSS), schools and conferences organized by AYSS. Thus, the AYSS-2021 conference will take place in October 2021 in Kazakhstan. EPS representatives expressed readiness to support the involvement of lecturers in the conference, as well as spread information about AYSS-2021 among students of the EPS partner countries.

The next JINR-EPS meeting is preliminarily scheduled for September-October 2021.
