Competitions in fire-applied sports among the JINR volunteer fire brigades were held on 24 May 2018 at the JINR Stadium “Nauka”.

9 departments of the Institute presented their teams, namely the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics (VBLHEP), the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions (FLNR), the Laboratory of Radiation Biology (LRB), the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems (DLNP), the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (BLTP), the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics (FLNP), the Laboratory of Information Technologies, the Chief Power Engineer’s Department and the Transport Department. Employees of the Fire and Rescue Unit #26 judged the competition.

The participants competed in the relay, which consisted of four stages: a hundred metre race, extinguishing the burning object, unfolding of the fire hose and “filling” the target with water, putting out burning trays with fire extinguishers in full uniform. The competitions in fire-applied sports among the JINR volunteer fire brigades are traditional and held annually at the end of May.
