JINR employees received Moscow region awards

The title of Honorary Citizen of the Moscow Region – the higher regional award – was presented to Yuri Oganessian. This and other awards were presented to employees of the Joint Institute during a visit of Governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyev to Dubna on World Science Day, 10 November.
Scientific Leader of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions JINR RAS Academician Yuri Tsolakovich Oganessian was awarded a high title of the Honorary Citizen of the Moscow region for his outstanding contribution to the development of basic sciences and strengthening of international scientific and technical cooperation. According to the Government of the Moscow region, awarding this title to the brilliant scientist of Dubna with a world-known name will contribute to the prosperity of the region, increase its authority in the Russian Federation and abroad.
“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to you for both your achievements and the fact that your students, followers now surround us. These are the people who are supposed to achieve the next heights,” Andrey Vorobyev said presenting the award to Yuri Oganessian.
Academician Oganessian expressed gratitude and noted that during the visit to JINR of Governor Andrey Vorobyev after taking office, the DC-280 accelerator was just being constructed. “Now, it surpasses all its world-rivals combined by several times. It has no analogues,” Yuri Tsolakovich highlighted. “So, we do not lag behind you. I wish you every success. We witness it daily in the region. Many thanks!”
On that day, other regional awards were presented to staff members of the Institute for especially fruitful scientific and practical activities.
The Badge “For Merit to the Moscow region” II degree was presented to Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Grigory Trubnikov.
Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, JINR Vice-Director Sergey Dmitriev received the Badge “For Merit to the Moscow region” III degree.
The Badge “For Merit to the Moscow region” III degree was presented to Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Deputy Scientific Leader of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions JINR Mikhail Itkis.
Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Head of the FLNR Sector of synthesis and properties of superheavy nuclei Vladimir Utenkov was awarded the Honorary Title “Honored Scientist of the Moscow region”.
The Badge of St. Sergius of Radonezh was presented to the FLNR Chief Technical Expert Georgy Gulbekian and Head of the FLNR Accelerator Department Vasily Semin.
