“The Shining” (1980): the movie is based on the novel by Stephen King. Jack Torrance takes a winter caretaker position at the luxury hotel in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, which closes every winter season. He comes there with his wife and son. The movie became a source for endless film quotes, allusions, parodies, and memes. At the meeting of the JINR Cinema Club, it will be told what its Gothic charm is, how it was created and why the author of the original novel categorically disliked it.
The film will be shown in the original with Russian subtitles. Free admission.
