JINR and University of Debrecen to expand cooperation

On 25 November, representatives of the Joint Institute paid a visit to the University of Debrecen (Hungary), as part of which the parties signed an agreement on strengthening collaboration in personnel training, academic mobility programmes and organization of joint events, including training courses and conferences.

On behalf of JINR, the Chief Scientific Secretary of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Sergey Nedelko and Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Neutron Physics for Scientific Work Sergey Kulikov attended the meeting. The University of Debrecen was represented by Vice-Rector General Károly Pető, Director for Coordination and Strategy Okszána Kiszil, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Ferenc Kun, and Deputy Director of the Institute for Nuclear Research Géza Lévai.

Members of the delegation of the Joint Institute made a detailed presentation of JINR activities to the representatives of the University of Debrecen.

“The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is a unique example of integrating fundamental theoretical and experimental research with the development and application of state-of-the-art technologies and university education. Our main research areas are particle physics, nuclear physics and condensed matter physics,” Sergey Nedelko noted.

As the representatives of the Hungarian side emphasised, the Dubna research centre has already maintained contacts with the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen, but they would like to develop the partnership.

After the meeting in the main building of the University, Sergey Nedelko and Sergey Kulikov visited the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Institute of Nuclear Research (ATOMKI).
