On 25 May, during a visiting meeting of the Board of the Federal Medical Biological Agency of Russia “Industrial medicine, the basis of labour longevity”, a festive opening of the Vascular Centre created with the JINR support took place. The centre was opened at the Federal Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Medical Unit No. 9” of FMBA. Head of FMBA of Russia Veronika Skvortsova and JINR Director RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov took part in the opening of the Centre.
A new vascular centre, fully equipped with modern medical equipment, including an angiograph, with a complete staff, were shown to Veronika Skvortsova, as well as representatives of the Agency, who arrived in Dubna from many regions of the country. They were offered a tour of the updated facilities of Medical Unit No.9 as well.
“I would like to emphasise that everything that FMBA does is based solely on the most serious scientific approach. It suits our city, because Dubna is a scientific centre. We can be proud of the vascular centre, the hemodialysis centre, and the rehabilitation centre we are opening in Dubna today!”, Grigory Trubnikov said.
The opening of the vascular centre became an important event for residents of Dubna and nearby settlements. Now, patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases can get emergency and routine specialised medical care.
Veronika Skvortsova thanked Grigory Trubnikov for his support and assistance in establishing the Centre and noted that it was the Institute with its international team that formed the request for the development of industrial medicine in Dubna. She highlighted that a pilot model of modern industrial medicine with the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence was created in the science city, and the vascular centre became part of this project. In addition, within the project, a hemodialysis centre at Medical Unit No.9 and a digital health centre in the territory of the Special Economic Zone “Dubna” were opened, where thousands of employees of enterprises residents of the Special Economic Zone “Dubna” will be treated.
In his turn, Grigory Trubnikov noted the serious scientific approach that JINR’s strategic partner, FMBA of Russia, demonstrates when implementing the project in Dubna, which is also a scientific centre.
“Dubna is an international centre as well. Together with Russian citizens, about 400 foreign specialists from 32 countries of the world work at the Institute. The quality of medical care, the quality of medical science that our colleagues from Argentina, China, Egypt, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Romania, Vietnam, South Africa, the United States, and many other countries see is a brilliant advertisement for Russian science not only in our country, but also in other countries”, Grigory Trubnikov said.
On the same day, at the JINR site, at the JINR Cultural Centre “Mir”, a board meeting was held. The strategy for the development of industrial medicine in the Russian Federation and labour protection were the main topics of the meeting. In particular, following the example of Dubna, it is planned to create several dozen centres in other cities and several hundred digital health centres.
“It was in Dubna, where we together, as a team, have created a well-thought-out modern model and logistics of the process from the moment a person comes to work. Today, the Federal Medical Biological Agency is holding an expanded board dedicated to the development of industrial medicine, which is the basis of labour longevity,” Veronika Skvortsova noted. “I would like to thank the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, our strategic partner and like-minded organization. We implemented everything we were able to do because there was a request for modernisation and increasing the efficiency of processes. We were able to do it together.”
Grigory Trubnikov also addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, “As physicists, we consider any event, meeting, or activity as an experiment. And in any experiment, the subject and the result are important. JINR is glad to be the subject of a scientific experiment for FMBA, aimed not only at labour longevity, but also at the overall health of people, as well as the discovery of the most modern methods of prevention, treatment, and tools that prolong human lives.” Grigory Trubnikov thanked the staff of Medical Unit No.9 for their hard and selfless work, thanks to which they managed to save lives of many Institute’s employees during the COVID-19 epidemic.
At the end of the board meeting, awards were presented. By order of FMBA of Russia, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov was awarded a Certificate of Merit by FMBA for the successful implementation of projects on industrial medicine within the interdepartmental cooperation, the FMBA commendation was given to Special Representative of the JINR Director Sergey Kulikov and Director Assistant Grigory Shirkov.
During the visit to Dubna, the FMBA delegation visited VBLHEP JINR, where they got acquainted with the progress of the NICA Project, as well as the Accelerator Complex and the MPD facility. In addition, guests got an idea of the work of irradiation stations at extracted beams created at NICA for applied research, including in the field of medicine.
