News, 28 June 2017
The first thing assembled inside the yoke of the legendary Synchrophasotron in the frames of the NICA mega-project was the beam electron cooling system in the Booster which is a new element of the future accelerator. The facility was delivered to the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research from Novosibirsk and was installed in its regular position in the spring 2017. The supply systems, magnetic systems have already been mounted, correction of the magnetic field was held and good results were obtained. The run with electron beam is ahead. “This is the first major element of the Booster which was mounted on the ring”, — experts say.
