Outstanding people, who greatly contributed to popularization of scientific and cultural achievements, were honored to get Lev Nikolaevich Nikolaev gold medals. L. N. Nikolaev was a TV-journalist and enlightener, creator of the «Civilazation» television company.

The festive ceremony was held in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in the Michelangelo hall in which Lev Nikolaevich made a lot of his footages. There were scientists, cultural workers, journalists, and, of course, former award winners among guests of the ceremony. In the past years, Irina Antonova, Vladimir Spivakov, Michael Piotrovsky, Leo Bokeria, Vladimir Fortov and others were awarded the medal.

This year, gold medals winners became: Andrei Malahov, TV-journalist, producer, editor of «StarHit» magazine; Irina Korchevnikova, Director of the Obraztsov Puppet Theatre; Marina Loshak, Director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts; Anatoliy Kucherena, Doctor of Law, Honored Lawyer of the RF, MIA Community Board Chairman; Yuri Oganessian, Academician of the RAS, scientific leader of FLNR, one of super heavy chemical elements was named after him – «oganesson».

Alexander Sergeev, RAS President, was privileged to present Yuri Tsolakovich the gold medal.

«The decision to award Yuri Oganessian was the right and natural choice. Last year, we were informed that the last chemical element of the Periodic table was discovered and named after our scientist, » – comments A.Sergeev. «Oganessian is not only an outstanding scientist, he is also a talented science organizer – more than 400 people work under his authority in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. We are pride of this laboratory as well as of Dubna. He is undoubtedly the excellent enlightener – just consider his lectures on the structure of matter for students. And even if no chemical elements are to be discovered and the periodic table is fulfilled, then we may be proud that it is finished by Oganessian.»

Yuri Tsolakovich did not expect to be awarded the medal not only for his scientific discoveries but also for his enlightenment, for his contribution to popularization of scientific knowledge.

«This is really pleasant and unexpected event. Lev Nikolaev was an outstanding person, his contribution to popularization of scientific knowledge is impressive. He had larger-than-life personality. Thank you one more time for the award,» – said Academician.

According to Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lev Nikolaev gold medal is the proof for vote of confidence given to a person.
