European Physical Society and JINR will enhance cooperation

On 20 January, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov and President-elect of the European Physical Society (EPS) Luc Berge had an online meeting.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss prospects for strengthening institutional interaction, as well as some joint initiatives. In particular, some of the focuses of the discussion were an opportunity to jointly organize a school for young scientists and conferences, help to EPS in establishing contacts in the Russian Federation, the JINR location country. The parties also agreed to discuss the possibility of increasing the Institute’s representation in relevant departments and groups of EPS, as well as increasing the EPS representation in the JINR Scientific Council at the highest level. So that it will reflect a considerable development of the JINR scientific infrastructure.
EPS Point of Contact to the Russian Federation Gertrud Zwicknagl, Coordinator for European Projects Radu Constantinescu, as well as a member of the EPS Executive Committee and a member of the JINR Scientific Council Eliezer Rabinovici represented the EPS party. JINR Chief Scientific Secretary Alexander Sorin, UC Director Stanislav Pakuliak, and Head of the International Cooperation Department Dmitry Kamanin represented JINR at the event.
Consultations between EPS and JINR will continue on a working basis, and the next meeting for discussion of practical arrangements is preliminarily scheduled for April 2021.
